HP Creates its First Linux PC
It seems HP wants some of the publicity that Dell got when they began selling Linux machines. Whatever brings out the competition sounds good to me.
When will we see Linux laptops HP? I just ordered mine from Dell but I’ll talk about that when I get it.
They say this PC is a low-end business PC. It comes with the AMD processor of your choice. From the 1.60 GHz AMD Sempron 3000+ processor to the speedy 2.8 GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 5600+ processor. The dx2250 can hold up to 2GB of RAM. For storage, it maxes out with a 250 GB hard drive. It comes with a variety of optical drive options, from CDs to a DVD+/-RW LightScribe, or even a Double Layer/Dual Format drive.
Previously, HP had offered this desktop computer with a choice of Vista Business, XP, and FreeDOS. With the FreeDOS machines, these were almost always replaced with a Linux distribution.
I should point out this will only be available to HP’s Australian customers at first.
