Google says Web 2.0 = AJAX?
Google is the most used search engine on the internets right? The people running Google knows what’s happening on the net correct? Could Google be so big that they can redefine our terminology?
January of this year when Google was changing some things around at Blogspot. They slapped the web across the face when they used the term ‘labels’ instead of ‘tags’.
Below is a video of Eric Schmidt at the Seoul Digital Forum. At first he claims the term ‘Web 2.0′ is only a mere ‘Marketing Term’, which if you think about it makes a lot of sense. I really could see that too. . .but for social networking websites, not AJAX. Even Wikipedia defines Web 2.0 as a
reference to a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services — such as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomies — which facilitate collaboration and sharing between users.
So who is right? Google or O’Reilly?
