How to use Firefox like a Pro

So recently I saw this article on Digg about How to use Firefox.

Don’t get me wrong. . .this was a very informative article. . .but just wasn’t what I was expecting to read about.

Update - Check out the new ‘More Firefox Tips‘ Article.

Anyone can install extensions, fatten up the browser, and make it do any and every little thing.
Sadly I began using Firefox for a completely other reason. Firefox was made to be a slim, fast for everyone as long as you know how to use it.

- CTRL + T
Opens a New Tab.

CTRL + R
Reloads Current Tab.

ALT + Home
Loads your Home/Start Page.

CTRL + TAB
Changes to Next Tab.

CTRL + SHIFT + TAB
Changes to Previous Tab.

CTRL + Z
Undo.

CTRL + SHIFT + Z
Redo.

ESC
Stop.

CTRL + Click a Link
Opens in a New Tab.

CTRL + ENTER
Auto Complete URL to .com

SHIFT + ENTER
Auto Complete URL to .net

CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER
Auto Complete URL to .org

CTRL + SHIFT + T
Restore Last Closed Tab.

Just knowing these keyboard shortcuts listed above will make you look like a professional Firefox user. . .and how nice will it be to be able to do what you want quickly from the keyboard.

Bonus!
If you have a middle click/scroll wheel on your mouse, then you can do what I do. If I click on a link with my middle mouse button it opens the link in a new tab. Now the best part. . .if you click a tab, with your middle mouse button, it will close that tab for you! I don’t know about you, but that stops me from having to right click a link and click ‘open in new tab’.

Update
Here is something that was sent in from a reader. Thanks for the tips Jakob

ALT +
download the linked file

SHIFT +
opens the link in a new window

F5
reload the current tab

CTRL + F5
reload the current tab and override the catch

CTRL +
change to the tab with this number

Space
scroll down

CTRL + F4
close the current tab

ALT + F4
close the window

CTRL + N
open an new firefox window

CTRL + S
download the current webside

Update 2
I just received an email asking if there was a shortcut to get to the address bar. There is, in face I use it all the time to quickly change the URL of the current tab I am on.

F6 OR CTRL + L OR ALT+D
Highlights the address bar

also.. if you press Ctrl + L the writing in the address bar is highlighted so that you are ready to type in a new web address straight away.

Thanks for the rest of the stuff though its really helped me browse faster!

If you want to highlight the adressbar you can also press F7. Furthermore, CTRL+W closes the current tab and when you don’t have tabs open, it closes firefox..!

Hey pressing F7 does not HIGHLIGHT the ADRESSBAR thats all.

This what happens when u press F7 it ask u
“Pressing F7 turns Caret Browsing on of off. This feature places a moveable cursor in web pages, allowing you to select text with the keyboard Do you want to turn Caret Browsing on? ”

    What does that mean ?

I got an idea but i want someone to explain it more.
