Hack your body
Tips on learning your body better
Below I will discuss small techniques to ‘out smart’ your own body. Once you learn these tips and actually use them, you will thank me.
How to hold your breath longer
The key is to basically hyperventilate, take your last big breath of air into your lungs, and then hold it. It’s not that you can only survive on 30-60 seconds on one lung full of air, it has to do with the acid in the blood. Doing this will remove the acid from the blood and you can now hold you breath for minutes at a time.
How to get rid of a wart
The cheapest and easiest way is Duct Tape. . .and no I am not joking. The chemicals in the sticky grey tape will kill and remove that nasty wart. Who would have thought?
How to quickly stop a brain freeze
Just use your tongue. Make it flat, and press it up against the roof of your mouth. The more pressure you use to push, and the more area your tongue touches the roof of your mouth, the quicker it will go away. Since the nerves in your mouth are so cold, your body thinks the brain is freezing.
How to hold it in just long enough
Women, they say if you scratch or rub the back of your calf fast and hard it will trick your brain into thinking about your leg and not your bladder.
Knowing your ears
Each ear has different strengths and weaknesses. They say your right ear is better for dialog recognition, and your left ear is far better at picking up and recognizing music tones.
How to free your creative mind
They say sitting under a high ceiling opens the creative gates in your mind. I always wanted to know why churches have steeples.
Improve your memory
Thinking about something(whether it be money problems, school questions, life issues, etc), before going to sleep will actually allow your brain to continue thinking about it for the next hour or two before you go into REM sleep. Try reading the chapter in the book before bed the night before a test. You’ll be surprised in the results.
How to cure hiccups
Take a big breath, and take 10 sips of water back to back, without letting out any air, or taking in any new air.
How to calm down
Waiting for the date to arrive? Not sure what you are going to get on your report card? When you feel your heart begin to race, slow down your breathing. . .in through your nose, out through your mouth. And while doing this, begin to massage your thumb. It doesn’t matter which one you massage first, but just alternate ever 30 seconds or so. Within the next minute or two you will begin to feel much more calm.
How to prevent blisters
Ever pick something up that was too hot and burn the hell out of your fingers, hands, etc? You get a blister from this because your body continues thinking the area is too hot, even after you let go of whatever burned you. Next time this happens for example, to your thumb, just press the burned thumb against your other thumb. Your non-burned thumb will transfer it’s current temperature which will trick your body into not blistering.
